Good Bye Elfie!

Wouldn't you know Elfie would make his final day with us a memorable one?!  What a surprise it was when Kennedy woke up and was TrApPeD in her room!!!!

 

And Kennedy was not too thrilled about it either.   She wasn't really sure she was allowed to break through the barrier.  Unfortunately Quinn had been sick with the flu all night long so Mommy and Daddy were very tired and not feeling so hot either.  We all just kind of sat there for a bit.  Kennedy peeking at us through the streamers and the rest of us in the hall, half asleep.  By the way, do you see Elfie in the bottom corner with a gift for her?!

 

Finally Kennedy got the courage to run through her door!  I wish I had had the energy to get a photo of that!  Elfie left the girls 2 nice notes.  One about how well behaved they had been all year and how he would miss this so so so much until he returns next Christmas.  The other was a reward for their good behavior - they were allowed to hold Elfie ALL DAY!!!!  Do you think Quinn enjoyed that??

We already miss our elf friend to pieces! But we know he is working hard with Santa in the North Pole, preparing for Christmas 2012!!!  Thanks for following Elfie's adventures with us this season!

Mr. Elfie Strikes Again

Today Elfie left ELF DONTUS for the girls to eat!

Today Elfie hid in a cup in the cupboard and left a note!!!

On this day Elfie hung out with the snowman Mom made last year!!

Hmmm...we aren't so sure what Elfie was doing today.  Possibly bungee jumping??

Silly Elfie!  He TP'ed the bathroom!!!

Day 12

Who knew elves could drive cars?!?!  Elfie must have gone for a joyride in the minivan last night!  I hope he drives better than he parks!!!

Today Elfie kept watch over us in the kitchen!

WOOAAHH!!  This was one of the craziest things he has done yet!  He put Post-It notes ALL OVER THE PLAYROOM!!!!

Day 15

You will NOT believe this, but Elfie didn't move today!  We were a bit worried that someone had touched him without our knowledge and lost his magic.  But the next day we breathed a huge sigh of relief when he found a new place!

Day 16

Elfie knew that he had made us so worried!  So he stayed by Kennedy's bed. He left her a sweet note and a little present!!

A Little Holiday Sewing

We had a super fun "Holiday Event" a week ago!  (more to come on the details soon!)  The adults had ugly Christmas sweaters and shirts to wear.  But the poor kiddos had nothing. So I whipped up some cute little shirts for them!!  If I had more time I would have listed some in my Etsy store! Next year, right?!

This one was for our buddy Micah!  He liked it so much he has requested I make him one with a penguin now!!

This was for our man Nate!   I just love that green polka dot fabric!

 And of course this one is for my big girl, Kennedy!   I have a strange obsession with ribbon so this was totally fun to make!!!!

Here we go...February Photo a Day!!

February 7th
This was a super important day! Kennedy lost her very first tooth! We had a dentist appointment just days earlier. The hygenist told Kennedy she had two loose teeth - Kennedy hadn't even noticed! While brushing her teeth tonight, she bumped it out!!! There is a video of her telling about it in the previous post. Those baby teeth are soooo tiny!




February 6th
Super Bowl Sunday!
We were still recovering from the sickies but headed to the Elliott's for Bible Study and then the big game! Go Packers!



February 5th
We celebrated Cousin Logan's 7th birthday today! We can't believe Logan is SEVEN!!!



February 4th
Just a screen shot of mint.com. This is a pretty cool site for tracking your spending and such. I love that it allows me to break down my spending very specifically. For instance, I can have a section for cleaning supplies and specify for what room they are for - kitchen, laundry, bathroom, etc. Very cool!

Quinn's exersaucer is one of her favorite toys right now. When she sees it she starts kicking her legs and her eyes sparkle! It is adorable!



February 1st
Snow, snow, snow.....a good foot of it! School was called off for 3 days. But Kennedy was already staying home sick. :(


January 31st
Kennedy is still sick, as is Miss Quinn. We made a bed on the couch for her. She has enjoyed drawing on the dry erase board! We have thrown in some penmanship practice as well!


January 30th
See that little "obey" sign? This is part of some "homeschooling" we have been doing. Kennedy and I are both fully enjoying it! I found the most amazing blog Confessions of a Homeschooler and we are implementing her Bible Character Studies. This week we learned about Obedience. One of our activities was to write the word obey on notecards and place them in specific places in our home where we might need to be reminded to obey. The places we chose were: Kennedy's bedroom, the television, the computer and the pantry. :)

Blizzard!

As promised, here are the photos of our yard in the daytime!

It was pretty darn windy- the snow seemed to be coming down sideways! So there are some fun drifts out there!!! This photo is off the deck. You can see the chair in engulfed!

And sweet Jeff shoveling and shoveling and shoveling and shoveling!!!! Those piles look oh so fun! But Kennedy is still on the mend and it is bitterly cold so we won't be playing in this snow anytime soon. :(

Snow!!!!!!!!!!

Like over half the country, we have been inundated with snow!!!! Here in KC they are calling it "The Blizzard of 2011!" I know my friends in MN and NY would laugh at that! We got a foot of snow and we just aren't used to that!

So this is our backyard on Tuesday night!!!!!

We recently purged Kennedy's playroom. We found a spinning, light-up globe toy. Kennedy had forgotten she even had it! Now it has become one of Quinn's favorites! She loves to hold it and feel the vibration and tries to "eat" it!

Quinn is working on sitting steadily in the exersaucer. She likes it but is so dang skinny she often falls backward and struggles to pull herself forward again! I think in the next few weeks she will be strong enough to really love it!

Snow Day!!!! No school! We got a lot of snow! Maybe 5-6 inches....I can't remember now. Kennedy, the dogs and I had lots of fun playing in the snow together! Since she was tiny, one of Kennedy's favorite things about snow is eating it!

This was Chiefs playoff game day. (We lost. It was bad.) We went to the Neat's for a fun gathering! The kiddos were really enjoying Sophia's room!

Kennedy had just gotten her "report card" from first semester when Mema came to visit! They were reading through it together. Kennedy is excelling in all areas, just as we had hoped! She is one smart cookie!

Just a normal day around our home. Nothing too special. Just Kennedy fully enjoying being a big sis. Quinn just lights up when she sees Kennedy! And if she can hear her, she quickly turns her head to look for Kennedy. Sometimes Kennedy gets a bit too close, touches a bit too much, or is a bit too loud...but mostly they are best buds!
