A Little Holiday Sewing

We had a super fun "Holiday Event" a week ago!  (more to come on the details soon!)  The adults had ugly Christmas sweaters and shirts to wear.  But the poor kiddos had nothing. So I whipped up some cute little shirts for them!!  If I had more time I would have listed some in my Etsy store! Next year, right?!

This one was for our buddy Micah!  He liked it so much he has requested I make him one with a penguin now!!

This was for our man Nate!   I just love that green polka dot fabric!

And of course this one is for my big girl, Kennedy!   I have a strange obsession with ribbon so this was totally fun to make!!!!

More info on our "Holiday Event" and photos of the kids in their shirts will be coming soon!!!

Photo a Day thru 2/16

Let's get started!!!

February 16th
Today is just a shot of the gals wearing their matching Matryoshka doll shirts!!! Kennedy LOVES to match with her sis! And this shot was her idea!

February 15th
Kindergarten stuff! Kennedy plowed through her Kindergarten sight words and is working on the 1st grade words. She would much rather read a book than read a list of words (who can blame her) so we make slower progress through these! But I am sure she will have them down by her 6th birthday!! We just got the results from her Kindergarten reading assessment and I must say we are MORE than pleased! What a blessing it is that she has such a sharp mind and passion for learning - it will serve her well her entire life!

February 14th
Valentine's Day! Kennedy and I made these cute little number from scratch! I found a recipe online and changed it up a tiny bit. We took them to her school party but I think the kids had been eating so much gunk already that half of them were thrown out! Oh well! The process of baking was fun!

February 13th
My sweet, sweet girl showing off her NEW big girl smile! I seriously get teary eyed when I see those two holes in her mouth!!

February 12th
Landen had his 6th birthday party - a pajama movie party! Kennedy fully enjoyed lounging with her friend Nathan! Aren't they cute?!

February 11th
Kennedy actually lost her second tooth on February 10th. She was spending the night with her friend Taylor! So we decided the tooth fairy probably didn't know where Taylor lived and we put it under our pillow the next day at home! We have a Tooth Fairy book that tells all about tooth fairies and why they collect teeth - it is a sweet story! It even came with its own special velvet bag to put her tooth in under her pillow - it makes it easier for the tooth fairy to find it! *wink* The back of the book lets her chronicle the loss of her teeth and has a page to color in each tooth as it falls out!

February 10th
I just have to share this one....I could just eat her up!

February 9th
Tummy time! It is not her favorite for sure! She makes quite a few crazy faces to show her dislike for it!

February 8th
Family movie night! It was our second time seeing it - but it is still cute! Kennedy really loves movies about dogs!!!!

November in Photos

Recent photos of the girls are quite overdue - especially for the out of state grandparents!!! This post is pretty much dedicated to the first week or so of November!!! It is quite photo heavy to hang on!!!

On this Saturday afternoon Quinn was enjoying time with Dad! She is enjoying soft toys that make gentle sounds right now! She is making the sweetest little gurgling sounds along with some ah ah sounds - it really is THE most delicious sound! Quinn is smiling daily and it warms all our hearts! I caught a quick shot of Dad "tickling" Quinn with Mr. Alligator - she was loving it!

Not long after I took that shot Copper the dog started to get jealous! He is a big lab but thinks he is a lap dog. If you sit on the floor you can bet he will be over to lay on top of you! Sure enough, he came over and flopped down onto Jeff's legs. Miss Quinn has been noticing the dogs for the last 2 weeks or so! It started with their wagging tails, but now she REALLY sees all of them! Her eyes will get really big, she will get very serious and eventually smile really big! Copper was in the perfect spot for Quinn to check him out....can you see the intent look on her face (aka the BIG eyes!!)?
I am fully enjoying watching Kennedy with her baby sister. Before she was born, I was confident that Kennedy would be smitten. But I also thought the newness would wear off quickly and we would see some acting out and possible jealousy issues. Honestly, we have seen very little! Kennedy is an exceptional child and I know she will be an exceptional big sister. I will let these photos speak for themselves!

In the last week I added some photos of the girls to Facebook and have gotten some questions about their wardrobe! If you know me well, you know that dressing my girls is totally fun for me! Sniffing out a bargain, finding little treasures and getting unique outfits is almost like another hobby! I realized that I need to take more photos of the girls IN their outfits so I can look back and remember them! So here are just a few shots of what they have been wearing recently...I will try to intentionally take photos from here on out! (and I will include where I got the outfits because I am ALWAYS asked were I found them!)

First up is Miss Quinn is this soft cotton kimono set from Mad Sky. I love that Mad Sky is American made...you don't find that very often!!! I believe I bought this set on Ebay. The socks are Trumpette and were a gift form Grandma Lori!!On this day I dressed Quinn first. It was chilly and so I picked this warm red set from Janie and Jack. Well, Kennedy wanted to match so they could be the "red princesses" so she grabbed this vintage Hanna Andersson set! I think I found the old Hanna set at a garage sale of all places and Quinn's is from the retail store. Velour in winter is wonderful, don't you think?!
This is what Kennedy wore on Veteran's Day! Red, White & Blue! Shoes, tights, skirt are Gap (I think the Mount Snow line 2010) and the top is Old Navy from a clearance sale last year!
Kennedy in more Gap!!! This is the dance line - some pieces are retail from last year and some are from this fall's outlet version.
And I will end with Miss Quinn in some Baby Lulu. This was a favorite brand of mine when Kennedy was younger! I think I found this at a consignment shop. I love that it has a matching bow...but Quinn does NOT like anything on her head! Bows and hats do not stay on long because she SCREAMS!!!!
Ok.....I am off to bed. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Be Blessed!

Preparing for Halloween

We are getting quite excited for Halloween here in the Holsapple household!!! Kennedy has always loved anything that involves holidays!

Weeks ago we started making Halloween treats....we decorated sugar cookies shaped like pumpkins, ghosts and stars. Sprinkles are Kennedy's favorite thing in the kitchen! She tends to go sprinkle crazy!!!! See her handiwork below!!!

We made one set of cookies into lollipop cookies!!! We just stuck some sticks in them before we put them in the oven - easy and a fun way to eat cookies!!!

Kennedy was soooo excited to carve pumpkins that I caved and let her do them early! They are already rotting and gross....next year we will need to wait until closer to Halloween. The pumpkin with the diamonds cut out is mine. The scary face is Kennedy's. She drew the face more or less and Jeff cut it out. We say the last pu mpkin is Jeff's, but really Kennedy and I created it. We used a drill and different sized bits! Aren't they lovely?!?

I somehow found time to create a Halloween dress for Kennedy! It didn't turn out quite how I had planned, but it was the first Tee dress I have ever made. ;) Kennedy loves it and doesn't know the difference and that is all that matters!

We already had one Halloween event last night with Daisy Scouts! Lots more Halloween fun follows the rest of the week! I am sure I will post some photos of K in her costume so be on the lookout!!!

Thanks for visiting and be blessed!
