The Princess & The Pepper

As promised, I am sharing our Halloween fun!!! Kennedy chose a Princess Tiana costume this year. However, it was very cheaply made and started fraying after the first wear. But she wore it to her Kindergarten party, the junior high trick or treating night and to Awana. She has so many dress up outfits that she chose a pirate costume to wear trick or treating to Daddy's work, Snow White to wear to the MNU holiday party and Princess Belle for the real trick or treating deal! Geesh - when I type it all out you can really see how "festive" this week was!!!!

Anywhoo....here is Kennedy posing before trick or treating!!!!

And here is our little Chili Pepper!!!! She came trick or treating just down to the end of our street and then headed home with Daddy....it was a tad too cold for any more!

We trick or treated with our neighbor and kindergarten classmate Kennedy. Yes, they are both named Kennedy!!! And aren't they cute?!?!

Daddy dressed up Copper and he helped great the trick or treaters at our door! He has turned into such a good dog! He just watched the kids come and go....a year ago he would have bolted out the door and run the neighborhood for a few hours!

Here are the happy trick or treaters!!!
We joined up with friend Kelsey for a little bit, too!
All in all it was a fabulous night!!!!! Thanks for taking a peek!
Be blessed!

Preparing for Halloween

We are getting quite excited for Halloween here in the Holsapple household!!! Kennedy has always loved anything that involves holidays!

Weeks ago we started making Halloween treats....we decorated sugar cookies shaped like pumpkins, ghosts and stars. Sprinkles are Kennedy's favorite thing in the kitchen! She tends to go sprinkle crazy!!!! See her handiwork below!!!

We made one set of cookies into lollipop cookies!!! We just stuck some sticks in them before we put them in the oven - easy and a fun way to eat cookies!!!

Kennedy was soooo excited to carve pumpkins that I caved and let her do them early! They are already rotting and gross....next year we will need to wait until closer to Halloween. The pumpkin with the diamonds cut out is mine. The scary face is Kennedy's. She drew the face more or less and Jeff cut it out. We say the last pu mpkin is Jeff's, but really Kennedy and I created it. We used a drill and different sized bits! Aren't they lovely?!?

I somehow found time to create a Halloween dress for Kennedy! It didn't turn out quite how I had planned, but it was the first Tee dress I have ever made. ;) Kennedy loves it and doesn't know the difference and that is all that matters!

We already had one Halloween event last night with Daisy Scouts! Lots more Halloween fun follows the rest of the week! I am sure I will post some photos of K in her costume so be on the lookout!!!

Thanks for visiting and be blessed!

Cider Mill

Each fall we take a trip to the Louisburg Cider Mill! It is a favorite for me! We go during the festival and they have fun booths set up and great bluegrass musicians playing. And of course lots of fun activities for kiddos! Kennedy had a great time on the inflatables as you can see in the photo above! And she got to ride the pony too- but refused to look at the camera!

Kennedy also had a great time climbing in the hay bales and on the pumpkins! :)

We even got Quinn in on her first pumpkin photo!!!!

While listening to the Bluegrass music, they asked the kids to come up and do a "chicken dance!" Kennedy loves any chance to preform so you KNOW she was us there!!

And finally we got Apple Cider Doughnuts and apple cider drinks! YUMMO!!!
Thanks for taking a peek!!!!

First Day of Kindergarten

Yup! Hard to believe but our little baby girl started Kindergarten today!!!!! And did you notice anything different about her?!? She got her hair chopped off! It was her idea and we all love it! She picked out her own first day of school outfit and I think she did a fine job!

Daddy went to work late so we could all go to school together! Kennedy wore shoes she hasn't worn before and by the time we reached the end of the block, she had started to get a blister! Thank goodness Dad gave her a piggy back ride most of the way!!! Here they are walking up the sidewalk to school!

We walked into the school the minute the bell rang for class to start! Can you believe it?! Late on her first day due to Mom and Dad!! But her teacher was super sweet and let me snap this photo quickly! There is no doubt she was excited to be there!!

After school we parents have to wait outside and the teacher brings the kids out. They must hug or high five Mrs. Stroup when they see their parent and then they can go. Here is Kennedy giving Mrs. Stroup a high five!
And a quick photo of the two of them! I am thrilled that Mrs. Stroup will be Kennedy's teacher! I have heard magnificent things about her and Kennedy already adores her! I see a good year ahead of us!!!

Trouble in the Basement

Ugh. Water. Basement. Ugh.

Yup. We had a pipe backup in our basement. Water likely slowly seaped out and into our wonderful carpet and onto our furniture. We haven't been home much lately and hadn't gone in the basement so we had no idea. I ran down there to grab something Wednesday night and my feet sloshed on the carpet. :( Jeff investigated and worked on it for a while before calling the pros.

We had to have half the carpet pulled out and some of the walls cut out where water had started to climb. For those of you who have seen our basement before, I am posting some photos so you can see the sad state it is in now.

Here is the shot of the home theater area....with the furniture moved around....
The little area where the water pipe backed up....

Along a side wall....
Looking from the theater area back to the bar....
Thank goodness for insurance!!! We are hoping this is fixed soon. I will keep ya posted!!!

Baby's New Nursery!!

While Jeff was in Honduras and Kennedy and I were in Iowa, three of my super amazing friends worked their tails off in our home! Christina, Trudi and Stephanie completely redid the nursery!! I am so amazingly blessed I can't put it into words! This was such an wonderful gift for our family!

Our nursery had been yellow and green - gender neutral. We didn't learn the gender before Kennedy and Sam were born so we wanted it to work for both a boy or girl. Now that we know this baby is a girl, they wanted to get our nursery all girly!!!! They got new bedding and completely repainted it all! Stephanie owns a super company called Frannies and she paints the most amazing murals! Trudi and Christina threw in their creative talent as well and the final product was amazing!!!!

Isn't this mural fantastic!?! Each little birdie on the flowers is a member of our family!
And this little blue bird high above us is sweet little Sam! I love that they included him!
Then there is our glider corner with these adorable lights! They are very soft so the light will be great for nighttime feedings! (and we WILL be recovering out old blue glider!)
And here is the new bedding!!!! SWEET!!!!
We are truly so blessed - I can hardly believe it!!! And in 6 short weeks a sweet little baby girl will occupy this room!!!!
