Birthday Decor

So....I am finally getting around to sharing about Kennedy's party!  For the family that lives out of state - here is what you missed!

For the camping theme I went with the colors orange, red & turquoise.  I was able to print that adorable birthday sign from this great site here at eighteen25 blog.

For the main food table I covered it with burlap and put small logs/stumps around.  Thanks to Jeff for cutting them up for me!  On the one above is a photo of Kennedy just a few months old.
I made edible acorns for a little snack!

We had some outdoor snacks! Grizzly Bears (gummy bears), Snakes (twizzlers rope), Catch of the Day (swedish fish), Fire Logs (pirouettes).  The kids also had hot dogs & chips and we later roasted marshmallows for s'mores.

Quick little display for the table! I took an 8x10 frame, took out the glass and put in some scrapbook paper (that matched the theme colors perfectly!) and adhered a wooden letter "K" to it!

For the mantle I went simple.  I purchased scrapbook paper that matched our themes and colors.  I punched out scalloped circles and regular circles and layered them.  Then I was also able to find some super fun camping/outdoor stickers to place in the center.  I also got a large letter "K" and covered it with matching scrapbook paper.
Here is a close - up.  We were able to re-use these on her thank you cards!

This was just a quick banner behind the food table.  Again, scrapbook paper and then some awesome American Crafts letters!

Quinn's 1st Birthday Party - Take 3

As I was editing photos from the party, I realized I didn't take many. :(  I only snapped Quinn with a few guests and only have a few of her opening gifts.  Bummer.  Thankfully some family members have sent me the photos they took at the party!  Phew!  But I am sharing the few I do have.

Quinn's Grandpa & Grandma Janke made the trip down from Iowa!  Yippee!!!  (Doesn't she look tired in this photo?!)

Great Papa Henry came to help her celebrate!!!  Doesn't he look great for 96?!

Also in attendance were Grandma Lori, Great Grandpa Keith & Great Grandma Phyllis, Mema, Papa Lou, Aunt Kate, Uncle Jason and cousins Logan, Elijah and Zia.

Kennedy and the boys were great help when it came time to open gifts!!!!  Quinn was actually quite interested in the presents!

This doll was a favorite of Quinn's - she was soooo taken with it!  She rocked it and rocked it and her face just lit up!!!  The doll has a magnetic soft binkie that she loves!

Finally it was cake time.  She was NOT interested. AT. ALL.  Jeff kept trying to put some in her mouth but she would spit it out!  He put her hands in the cake and she didn't like that either!  Oh well!!!  Maybe this will mean she won't have a sweet tooth like Kennedy and me!  *wink*

Thanks to all the family who came out to celebrate Miss Quinn's big day!  We still can't believe a full year has already come and gone since she entered our lives!  We love you to the moon and back sweet girl!!!

Quinn's 1st Birthday Party - Part 2

Part 2 of Quinn's 1st Birthday Party!!!

The rainbow theme was everywhere!! Another big thanks to my mom and Kennedy for helping to blow up all those balloons!!!
I sewed the rainbow bunting that is hanging below the balloons. I really wish I would have gotten a closer shot of it. I plan to use it for lots of future birthday parties!!

I made this balloon wreath for the front door. It was super simple to create! This is another item I plan to use for many future parties!!!

Here is a photo of the entire rainbow food table! (Don't worry, we did serve regular food as well!!) The large white tray on the right side of the table eventually held cut up fruit...in rainbow colors of course!

Here is the fireplace...and the spot where little Miss Q opened her gifts!!! I sewed the streamers together...yes, a bit overboard maybe. But I took two long sections of streamer and ran them through my trusty Singer and tried to ruffle it a bit. I love the look AND they are so sturdy they can be re-used for another party! :)
The bunting with Quinn's name was another fun sewing project! I adore how well it turned out..I just wish I would have used a capital Q at the beginning of her name! ;)

Here is a close up of her name bunting... I haven't worked with felt much in the past but I think git may be a new favorite of mine! I love how forgiving it is!

My last sewing project was Quinn's birthday shirt!!! I just made it super simple to match with a tutu she already had. She was a happy girl the entire party!!!More photos of the birthday guests and the birthday girl will be coming soon!!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Quinn's 1st Birthday - Part 1

Quinn is ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a very nice party with lots of family - the best kind of party!!!!

Here is a quick rundown of some of the decor! We had a rainbow theme!

Polka Dot Balloons!!!

Kennedy created party hats for herself and her two cousins!!! I was so proud of her!

Kennedy also made her own rainbow decor and displayed it down the walls of the front hallway! She loves a party!!!

The food had to be rainbow of course!!!!!

Rainbow Twizzlers.....

Rainbow Cupcakes (the inside was rainbow, too). Can you tell the tops are clouds with rainbows on them???

I just happened upon this nifty cupcake holder on clearance at Michael's. It worked pretty well!!

Glow sticks, candy coated pretzels in various colors, pixi stix, M&Ms sorted by color, and JellyBelly jelly beans sorted by color! A huge thanks to my mom and Kennedy for hand sorting all those colors!!!!

I have much more to share...but it will have to wait until the next post!!! Thanks for checking in!!!

June Photo a Day Take 1

June Photo a Day...

June 1st
Sweet little Quinn in a fun summer outfit! One of her favorite things to do is stand up (with help) and bounce, bounce, bounce!!!!!

June 2nd: no photo

June 3rd
Driving up to Iowa for my cousin's funeral.

June 4th
The only positive thing about a funeral is that family all come together. It was refreshing to see so many family members....wish we could see each other more often under different circumstances. Below are Marin and Kay! (with Mom and Gigi in the background)

June 5th
After the drive back to Kansas we headed to cousin Elijah's 6th birthday party. Quinn was a happy camper because we were outdoors!

June 6th
Pool fun! There will not be as many pool shots this summer. It is much too hard to watch Quinn AND get photos of my other fish!

June 7th
Pink Panther T-Ball game!!!

April Photo A Day Take 3

april 25th
Quinn is finally figuring out this feeder! It has a mesh bag for fresh fruit - she can mush it up with her gums and suck on it. When I fill it with bananas she devours them! I love this silly face!!!

april 24th
Such a cute photo of Quinn and Cousin Elijah! He was making silly faces and silly noises and she was just eating it up!!!! It looks like we will be spending lots more time with our cousins in the near future and I am soooo excited for the kiddos to bond more!

april 23rd
Poor Kennedy!!! She and I baked cookies on Thursday. I took one cookie sheet out of the oven and set it on the stove. I then got busy with something else. Kennedy went over to peek at the cookies and bumped her chin on the cookie sheet - she got quite the burn, poor baby! But she was super brave! (and wouldn't you know she had school photos the next morning?!)
Also, in this photo she is playing with her top, front tooth. It has been sooo loose! Kennedy was pushing it out and twisting it all around. I have some pretty gross photos of her tooth facing the wrong way and just hanging! She lost it the next morning!!!

april 22nd
I am not too proud to share a photo of this mess!! I have signed up with National Consumer Panel to track my purchases and earn rewards. Since I am such a coupon crazy and price watcher, it really just made sense for me to try the program out. However, when I make BIG grocery trips, it can be quite a bit of work! To save us the most money I usually shop at 3 different grocery stores a week and try to do it in one day, if possible. For NCP I have to scan each item purchased, enter price, choose if there was a sale price on the item, if I used a store coupon or manufacturer coupon, etc. That is for EACH item. So I had our purchases spread out all over the floor! Pretty silly photo but hey, this is our life! :)

april 21st
Just a normal day around our house today! My sweet girls spending time together!

april 20th
Happy Birthday Mema! This photo is really priceless! Mema with all her grandbabies (minus Zia who is still a bit too young to be near the cake!). She asked the kids to blow out the candles but they were trick candles that kept relighting. All 3 big kids are trying to huff and puff, Mema is cheering them on and Quinn is beginning to freak out!

april 19th
Kennedy's Daisy Scout troop were able to visit KMBC 9 News! I have to admit I thought it was super cool!!!! I had never been on a news set and I learned so much! The gals enjoyed themselves, though I don't know if they understood all they saw!!! Kennedy is 3rd from the left!

april 18th
Apparently this wasn't a very exciting day! This was my only photo - a trip to Target!!! But I must say it was a good trip!!! For all the items pictured below I paid $1.52!!!! Saved $12.36!!!!

April 17th
Beautiful Spring Day!!!! Kennedy has been wanting to pull Quinn in the wagon since Spring Break! She finally was able to today! Quinn ate it up!

Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

April Photo a Day Take 1

April 7th
This photo is such poor quality. But I don't care! My bff and Kennedy's bff went to a consignment sale. (big surprise, right?!) In the check out line this man was playing his guitar. The girls immediately wanted to dance! They are both such performers! It was adorable - even though the picture is totally wonky!

April 6th
Ooops - I guess I didn't take a photo!

April 5th
Kennedy's actual birthday! She was opening her gift from Dad and Mom. She was very surprised!!!!

April 4th
Normal day - watched the National Basketball Championship game.
April 3rd
Just Quinn enjoying her bath!!!!

April 2nd
Kennedy's family birthday! Loving on Cousin Logan!!!!

April 1st
Kennedy's birthday party! The gals LOVED playing dress up in Kennedy's closet! The cheese pizza we got for the girls burned. :( So while Jeff dashed out to get another pizza, I stalled by having the girls parade up and down the street in their "model" outifts! Here are just 3 of the girls skipping down the street!!! It was a super fun party for the girls!

Thanks for taking a peek!
