Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day everyone!!!!

A super special HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my wonderful Dad!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Ephesians 6

1-3 Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. "Honor your father and mother" is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, "so you will live well and have a long life." 4Fathers, don't exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.

Psalm 127 (The Message)

3-5 Don't you see that children are God's best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior's fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don't stand a chance against you;
you'll sweep them right off your doorstep.

Proverbs 13:24 (The Message)

24 A refusal to correct is a refusal to love;
love your children by disciplining them.

Proverbs 23

13 Don't fail to correct

your children.

You won't kill them

by being firm,

14and it may even

save their lives.

Deuteronomy 6 (The Message)

6-9 Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.

Gravity

Ugh. Gravity. It is definitely pulling me to the ground lately. I have so been relating to this amazing song by Shawn McDonald lately. Take a listen...

Thank goodness for Pastor Clint's message this past weekend...it was entitled "UP." We were challenged to set our focus on things other than our problems and to focus on Heavenly things. So easy to say, some days hard to do.

Coll 3:1-2 " Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things."

Psalm 121: 1-2
"I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and Earth."

Psalm 34: 4-6
"I sought the Lord and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord
heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles."

As I have stated numerous times before, I believe God hands up adversity for a reason. So, I will not let gravity get to me, nor my fear or trials. I will keep my eyes and heart on Him.

Psalm 69: 32-33
The humble will see their God at work and be glad.
Let all who seek God's help be encouraged.
For the Lord hears the cries of the needy;
He does not despise his imprisoned people.

Photo a Day....

1.26.10
Kennedy got her dolls and babies together for movie time. I had to get them snacks and everything...she was pretending they were at the movie theater! And if snacks are involved, the dogs want in too!

1.25.10
We had fun time at another birthday party! This time it was one of Kennedy's buddies and they held it at a kids arcade. Here are some of them trying to show their dance moves on a Dance Dance Revolution type game!!

This was the entryway hallway pretty much all day. Just thought it would be fun to capture some toys that Kennedy plays with. :)

And just a shot of Copper....chilling in the kitchen!

Jeff and I have lots going on in our lives right now and are feeling quite overwhelmed. I have been spending time thinking on these scriptures and just wanted to share them.

24 Be brave. Be strong. Don't give up.
Expect God to get here soon. (Psalm 31:24 The Message)

13-14 I'm sure now I'll see God's goodness
in the exuberant earth.
Stay with God!
Take heart. Don't quit.
I'll say it again:
Stay with God. (Psalm 27: 13-14 The Message)

13 For I am the LORD, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you. (Isaiah 41:13 NIV)

A More Beautiful You

I just feel the need to post the lyrics to this song today. This song is so touching.

My baby girl is visiting family out of state while I am at my first week back at work. Gosh I miss her! I have been hearing this song on K-Love almost everyday and it just tugs on my heart strings - probably because I was that 14yr old in the song AND because I am a mother. Being a junior high teacher, I witness so much angst in young girls' hearts. They are desperate for attention and approval, and quite often go about getting it in a very, very negative and destructful way. Too many teenage girls in my school do not know the love of Jesus and the power of his amazing love for them. If only someone would have told them sooner. If only they could have had a relationship with Him before they reach the treacherous tightrope that is puberty. I wish I had really had a relationship with my Heavenly Father as a teen.

Raising Kennedy to know her Father and to trust in Him is one of my most important jobs.

Proverbs 22:6 "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it." NLV

Deuteronomy6:6-9 "hese commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. "NIV

I know I am not perfect at this all important job, but there is really no such thing as perfection, right?!

Each time I hear this song I pray that Kennedy will not have to learn the hard way. I pray that she will know her abundant worth, that she will know the world is empty without Him, that she will know He made her for a sacred purpose, that she will know THE TRUTH. I pray that she won't bow to popular culture, peer pressure and the like. Oh how I pray these things from the depth of my being!!!!

More Beautiful You - Johnny Diaz

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don’t buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are

So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who’s strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl

Here is the video for this song...

Here is Johnny talking about the song....
