The Adventures of Elfie

Greetings from the Holsapple Household!!!!
Before the holidays are in full swing I thought I would share what Elfie has been up to this year! In case you don't know who Elfie is, I will give a quick overview. There is a book called The Elf on the Shelf which you can find at most any book store.

Our elf made his appearance in our house when Kennedy was 3.5yrs old. She named him Elfie. Each year shortly after Thanksgiving, Elfie is sent by Santa to our home. His job is to keep watch over Kennedy during the day. Each night he flies back to the North Pole to report on Kennedy's behavior. Each morning he is back in our home in time for Kennedy to wake but he is in a new spot! It is so fun looking for him each morning!

I just wanted to share where Elfie has been hanging out and some trouble he has gotten in to!

#1 We have Rudolph on top of our tree and Elfie was found riding him!

#2 Elfie made himself some cookies! He made a big mess with the chips and even left flour footprints on the oven!

#3 Elfie asked Kennedy to read him her "baggie book" from Kindergarten.

#4 Elfie was hanging out with this old Santa of Jeff's.

#5 Elfie got into Kennedy's undies and hung them on the tree!!!!!

#6 Elfie must have been playing with Kennedy's My Little Pet Shop toys! On this morning he brought back an important note from Santa!

#7 Elfie was sitting on the wreath on Kennedy's bedroom door.

#8 Elfie was sitting on top of our mini tree.

#9 Elfie made himself comfy in a little bowl of Fruit Loops.

#10 Elfie was hanging in the light about the dining room table.

#11 Elfie was in the freezer! He must have been missing the cold of the North Pole!

#12 He was on the doll house!

#13 Elfie used Mom's lipstick to leave Kennedy a note on he bathroom mirror.

#14 Elfie and Barbie had a little marshmallow fight!

Elfie has had a couple other adventures and I am sure will have a few more before Christmas Eve arrives! We love this tradition!

November in Photos

Recent photos of the girls are quite overdue - especially for the out of state grandparents!!! This post is pretty much dedicated to the first week or so of November!!! It is quite photo heavy to hang on!!!

On this Saturday afternoon Quinn was enjoying time with Dad! She is enjoying soft toys that make gentle sounds right now! She is making the sweetest little gurgling sounds along with some ah ah sounds - it really is THE most delicious sound! Quinn is smiling daily and it warms all our hearts! I caught a quick shot of Dad "tickling" Quinn with Mr. Alligator - she was loving it!

Not long after I took that shot Copper the dog started to get jealous! He is a big lab but thinks he is a lap dog. If you sit on the floor you can bet he will be over to lay on top of you! Sure enough, he came over and flopped down onto Jeff's legs. Miss Quinn has been noticing the dogs for the last 2 weeks or so! It started with their wagging tails, but now she REALLY sees all of them! Her eyes will get really big, she will get very serious and eventually smile really big! Copper was in the perfect spot for Quinn to check him out....can you see the intent look on her face (aka the BIG eyes!!)?
I am fully enjoying watching Kennedy with her baby sister. Before she was born, I was confident that Kennedy would be smitten. But I also thought the newness would wear off quickly and we would see some acting out and possible jealousy issues. Honestly, we have seen very little! Kennedy is an exceptional child and I know she will be an exceptional big sister. I will let these photos speak for themselves!

In the last week I added some photos of the girls to Facebook and have gotten some questions about their wardrobe! If you know me well, you know that dressing my girls is totally fun for me! Sniffing out a bargain, finding little treasures and getting unique outfits is almost like another hobby! I realized that I need to take more photos of the girls IN their outfits so I can look back and remember them! So here are just a few shots of what they have been wearing recently...I will try to intentionally take photos from here on out! (and I will include where I got the outfits because I am ALWAYS asked were I found them!)

First up is Miss Quinn is this soft cotton kimono set from Mad Sky. I love that Mad Sky is American don't find that very often!!! I believe I bought this set on Ebay. The socks are Trumpette and were a gift form Grandma Lori!!On this day I dressed Quinn first. It was chilly and so I picked this warm red set from Janie and Jack. Well, Kennedy wanted to match so they could be the "red princesses" so she grabbed this vintage Hanna Andersson set! I think I found the old Hanna set at a garage sale of all places and Quinn's is from the retail store. Velour in winter is wonderful, don't you think?!
This is what Kennedy wore on Veteran's Day! Red, White & Blue! Shoes, tights, skirt are Gap (I think the Mount Snow line 2010) and the top is Old Navy from a clearance sale last year!
Kennedy in more Gap!!! This is the dance line - some pieces are retail from last year and some are from this fall's outlet version.
And I will end with Miss Quinn in some Baby Lulu. This was a favorite brand of mine when Kennedy was younger! I think I found this at a consignment shop. I love that it has a matching bow...but Quinn does NOT like anything on her head! Bows and hats do not stay on long because she SCREAMS!!!!
Ok.....I am off to bed. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Be Blessed!

Christmas Card Time!!!

So...Thanksgiving is just around the corner! So that means Christmas card time is almost here, too!!! I have always loved giving and receiving Christmas cards! As a kid I loved to look at the photos and read the letters from loved ones! Now, with the internet being such a large part of our lives, some people aren't sending as many Christmas cards through the mail...they just post them online. BaHumBug I say!!! ;)
I will not be one of those people! I will be mailing a real card that you can touch!!! Will you?! I just wanted to take a minute to share some awesome ideas with you!

Have you ever heard of Shutterfly? Well of course you have, right?! They are an amazing online photo company! I have used Shutterfly MANY times in the past to print photos and create photo books. This year they have outdone themselves with their holiday photo cards! I recently hosted a House Party in conjunction with Shutterfly and it was amazing! I showed my gal pals how to create photo books on Shutterfly's site (which is ridiculously easy!!!). Shutterfly gifted us with some awesome things! In the package they sent samples of some of their holiday cards. I was super impressed! The quality of the photos were perfect! And the paper used to print them on is soooo thick and awesome quality! I will be ordering my cards through Shutterfly this year for sure!

I have had a hard time picking out which style I want! There are sooo many creative ones!

What do you think of these?

I am tempted to actually order two different styles!!! Isn't that silly?! But I will definitely be using photos taken by the talented Ms Jessica Strom!!!! Check out her website HERE!!!!

Anywhoo.....head on over to Shutterfly and browse their holiday card selection! You won't be disappointed! And while you are there you can take a peek at their other great products.....

Ernie Miller Park Afternoon

This post is very pic heavy!

I really enjoy the nature center/park near us. It is kind of hidden in the midst of suburbia! Last weekend we 3 girls spent a few hours there. We took Kennedy's bike along for fun!

We were probably a week late for the perfect fall colors, but Kennedy didn't notice! She just wanted to play in the water! Oh, and pose for pictures!!!

Her favorite spot is where there are rocks going across the stream....we spent probably over 30 minutes just hanging out there! She jumped back and forth over the rocks, threw rocks in and watched the splashes and poked around in the water for fish and bugs.

There was a group of people in the park that were learning how to test the water and check levels of chemicals and polutants. Kennedy was rather interested in what they were doing - you can see her watching them below. I have to say I learned quite a bit about Kansas water and pollutants just by listening to them. Interesting!

We also visited the nature center. We love to check out the owls, aquarium, hawks, & snakes. They also have a bird watching room that overlooks a pond with lots of bird feeders. The room has lots of puzzles for kids to do - we have spent many fun afternoons in that room!

Thanks for checking in on us. I will be back again soon to keep you up on all our happenings!

Be blessed!

30 Day Giving Challenge

I have decided to join a blog challenge. But this one isn't just a silly little challenge for fun...this one is really important. It is all about giving. A group of bloggers have issued a challenge to anyone in blogland that would like to put more giving into the season. Taken from their site:
"If you have a heart for giving, we invite you to join us from November 1 – 30, 2010 as we take giving to new heights, combining the efforts of thousands of people. We’ll be working together to bless our friends, family, neighbors, and complete strangers by making a conscious effort to give each day of November. And we’ll do it all for God’s glory!

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11

The big day has arrived. A challenge to GIVE. An opportunity to be CHANGED.

We invite you to blog about your experience on this journey. Each Monday, a linky will be posted for bloggers to share their stories. We need your stories. They inspire, they encourage, and they touch lives.

Is there a particular cause or charity that you are burdened with? Share it.

Does giving seem impossible yet you accept the challenge anyway? Tell us.

Write and give for an audience of ONE. Then sit back and watch what He does."

Life is a bit crazy for me right now, but that is good! I just want to make sure I am not always focusing on myself. Wanna join in? Grab the button below....

I will be back in a few days to share what I have been up to! I hope that some of you will join in!
